311 Posts for Visually-Impaired Vacant in Himachal

Shimla: Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil (retd), the minister for health and social justice and empowerment, stated on Friday that approximately 311 posts designated for visually-impaired individuals are currently vacant across various government departments. Of these, the recruitment process for 174 posts is in its final stages.

Recruitment Details

The vacancies being filled include 41 posts in the school education department, 13 in the animal husbandry department, and 4 in the health and family welfare department.

Meeting with Blind Associations

Chairing a meeting with representatives from the Blind Persons Association (BPA) and the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), the minister highlighted the government's decision to increase the monthly social security pension for ‘Divyangjans' with 100% disability from Rs 1,700 to Rs 3,000. This move is expected to benefit nearly 7,000 beneficiaries across the state.

Other Demands

The minister said that demands related to free travel through Him Bus Cards, enhanced conveyance allowance, skill training, appointment of an independent state commissioner for persons with disabilities, Sahara Pension Yojana, and special schools at Sundernagar and Dhalli would be considered sympathetically.

He also assured support for providing office space to organizations representing the visually impaired.
