Visakhapatnam: An aqua farm owner, Datla Ramakrishna Raju (68), was murdered by migrant workers under the influence of cannabis at his pond in Kotha Muramalla village under I Polavaram mandal of Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. Though Raju was murdered on Tuesday, it came to light on Thursday.
The locals said Raju employed four workers from Odisha to guard the pond. However, the workers murdered Raju over a work-related issue on Tuesday evening.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the migrant workers consumed cannabis and entered a heated argument with Raju over work-related issues. The workers allegedly hit him with a boulder, tied the same boulder to the farmer’s waist, and dumped his body into the pond before fleeing the scene.
The locals said the crime came to light after family members of Raju searched for him as he went missing on Tuesday. Based on the complaint from the family members of Raju, the police registered a case against the accused, and they managed to nab all four accused near Kakinada.
The local police tracked and apprehended the four accused workers near Kakinada. SI Raveendra stated that workers allegedly committed the act under the influence of ganja. A case was registered, and the investigation was ongoing.
