Ballari schools told to run SVEEP activities via ELCs

Ballari: All government, aided, and private schools, PU colleges, degree colleges, and universities in Ballari district have been directed to mandatorily conduct Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities through Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs).

Directions Issued by District SVEEP Committee

District SVEEP Committee chairperson and zilla panchayat CEO Mohammad Haris Sumeer issued the directions during a meeting held here on Thursday. He stated that the initiative aims to strengthen electoral literacy, especially among first-time voters and students who are turning 18. The CEO emphasized that the program is part of the Election Commission's voter awareness and literacy campaign.

Activities to Be Organized

The CEO said that ELCs should actively organize voter enrollment drives for eligible students. Activities such as essay writing, debates, drawing, rangoli, and street plays highlighting voting awareness must be conducted. He added that students should also be encouraged to spread awareness among their parents and the general public.
