Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration on Saturday felicitated a booth-level officer (BLO) in Berhampur assembly constituency for achieving 100% digitisation of enumeration forms in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, before the deadline.
Ramesh Chandra Mallick, an assistant teacher of a high school-cum-BLO (booth no. 127), was felicitated by Ganjam collector Keerthi Vassan V, as he completed digitisation of over 1,050 enumeration forms of his booth. There were 1,088 voters in the booth. But after deleting dead and shifted voters, the booth has 1,037 eligible voters. “After distribution of forms, enumeration forms were digitised,” he said.
The SIR exercise was started in the district from May 28 and scheduled to complete the digitisation on June 28. Mallick, however, completed the work on Friday, much before the deadline. The district administration felicitated him for his achievement, which will also encourage all other BLOs to expedite the exercise and ensure completion in time,” said the Ganjam collector.
The district administration has engaged 3,096 BLOs in the SIR exercise. Sources said of 29,99,782 voters in 13 assembly constituencies in the district, a total of 29,96,861 enumeration forms have been distributed, which accounts for around 99.9%. Similarly, 23,76,643 (around 79.23%) of enumeration forms have been digitised so far. The district administration held a meeting with political representatives to apprise them about the SIR. The collector has hoped the SIR exercise would be completed by the stipulated time in the district.
According to the Election Commission’s direction, the cap of electors in every booth is fixed at 1,200 voters. “If necessary, the number of booths will be increased to facilitate for all eligible voters to exercise their franchise in the election,” said Debadutta Panda, additional district magistrate. He also advised political representatives to approach the concerned BLO for rectification within a month of publication of the draft rolls, if they found any mistake (missing the name of voter) in the draft electoral rolls.
