Boy, 13, dies in lightning strike in Jharkhand's Palamu

Daltonganj: A tragic incident occurred in Akouni village in Palamu district on Saturday when a 13-year-old boy was killed by a lightning strike while in a mango orchard. The deceased, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to the Hussainabad sub-divisional hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Post-mortem and Medical Response

Dr S K Ravi, a physician at the hospital, confirmed that the post-mortem examination of the child was completed and the body was handed over to the grieving family. He further stated that a total of 10 other individuals who were also affected by the lightning strike received first aid and were subsequently discharged from the hospital. However, one person, whose condition was more critical, was referred to the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj for advanced medical care.

Community in Shock

The incident has left the local community in shock, as such natural disasters are rare in the region. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions during thunderstorms and seek shelter indoors to avoid similar tragedies. The district administration is also considering awareness campaigns to educate villagers about lightning safety measures.
