Indore: A follow-up operation by the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Neemuch, led to the seizure of 17.960 kg of poppy husk and the detention of two individuals from Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district, officials confirmed on Friday.
The action was carried out in connection with the seizure of 1,619.340 kg of poppy husk on June 17. Acting on information provided by an arrested accused, a CBN team raided an enclosure in Kanera village under Nimbahera tehsil, Chittorgarh, and recovered the contraband from an SUV parked there.
Officials stated that the four-wheeler was used to transport the consignment to the vehicle intercepted a day earlier. The seized poppy husk was found concealed inside the SUV in three HDPE plastic bags containing partially crushed material. Two individuals present at the scene were detained during the operation.
After completing legal formalities, the contraband was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Officials reported that trouble erupted when the CBN team was returning from the village. A crowd of approximately 100-150 unidentified individuals allegedly blocked the route and attempted to stop the government vehicles. The officers managed the situation with restraint and persuaded the crowd to disperse, allowing the convoy to leave the village safely after nearly 45 minutes.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
