The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has decided to meet a state minister to resolve the issue of pending water bills under the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme. The decision was taken during a meeting of HDMC officials on Wednesday.
Pending Water Bill Details
Officials informed the meeting that the pending water bills include a principal amount of Rs 195 crore and an additional Rs 135 crore in interest, totaling Rs 330 crore. The OTS scheme was introduced to help consumers clear their dues by waiving a portion of the interest.
Meeting with Minister
The HDMC will seek an appointment with the municipal administration minister to discuss the pending bills and the OTS scheme. The corporation hopes to expedite the recovery process and provide relief to consumers.
According to an HDMC official, “The meeting with the minister is crucial to resolve the pending water bill issue and ensure smooth implementation of the OTS scheme.” The official added that the corporation is committed to recovering the dues while offering a fair settlement to consumers.
Impact on Consumers
The OTS scheme allows consumers to pay their outstanding principal amount and a reduced interest, making it easier for them to clear their dues. The HDMC has urged consumers to take advantage of the scheme to avoid legal action.
