Jharkhand CEO Issues FAQs for Electoral Roll Revision

Ranchi: State chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has issued a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to all stakeholders. A copy was also uploaded on the website (ceo.jharkhand.gov.in) for the knowledge of voters.

Purpose of the FAQs

“People may have various questions or doubts in their minds. To make everything clear, we have decided to issue the FAQs for their information and knowledge,” Kumar told TOI on Sunday. “Information regarding SIR has been provided through 30 FAQs, incorporating questions/queries received through various mediums as desired,” he added.

Guidance for Booth Level Officers and Agents

The document released by the CEO’s office provides detailed guidance on the roles and responsibilities of booth level officers (BLOs) and booth level agents (BLAs). It outlines what mapped and unmapped voters are required to do during the revision exercise, a statement said. It also explains the rationale for conducting the SIR and lists the documents voters may need during the process.

Procedural Steps Covered

The FAQs further cover key procedural steps, including the enumeration form, draft publication of the electoral roll, filing of claims and objections, and the final publication of the updated roll, the statement added.

Objective of the Revision

Kumar said the revision is being conducted with the objective that “not a single eligible Indian citizen is left out of the electoral roll”. He added that the SIR is meant exclusively for eligible citizens and stressed that non-Indians should not participate in the process.
