Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday directed officials to expedite the construction of Bank Street in Amaravati and ensure the timely completion of bank headquarters in the financial district. Chairing a meeting of the CRDA authority at his camp office, Naidu asked officials not to delay approvals for bank office construction and to extend full support to financial institutions setting up their headquarters in the capital.
Progress on Bank Street
Officials informed Naidu that out of 13 banks that have come forward to establish offices in Bank Street, 11 have entrusted construction work to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The chief minister asked CRDA officials to ensure coordination among stakeholders for completion of work within timelines.
Digital Infrastructure Push
Naidu stressed the need to strengthen digital infrastructure in the capital and directed officials to ensure seamless phone, cable, and internet connectivity. He asked that digital infrastructure be developed in Amaravati through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Livable City Vision
The chief minister said steps should be taken to make Amaravati a livable city while keeping costs under control. He suggested promoting piped gas connections and induction stoves, and developing systems such as district cooling. He also instructed officials to focus on urban landscaping and said water levels should be maintained up to Vaikunthapuram, upstream of Prakasam Barrage, throughout the year to support tourism activities, including water sports.
Other Projects Reviewed
The Authority also reviewed projects including Krishna River embankment works, development of LPS layouts in Undavalli village, construction of parking complexes, judicial academy works, and issues related to compensation for poultry farm structures. Minister Narayana participated in the meeting through virtual mode. Senior officials from CRDA and municipal departments attended the meeting.
