26ft Kempegowda Statue & Hi-Tech Circle Modernisation for Mandya
26ft Kempegowda statue to be installed at Mandya's Sanjay Circle

In a significant move to boost the city's cultural and historical identity, Mandya is set to witness a major transformation of its central traffic circles, crowned by the installation of a grand statue of Bengaluru's founding father.

Modernisation Plan for City Circles Announced

Mandya MLA Ravikumar made a major announcement on Thursday, declaring that all major traffic circles in Mandya city, including the prominent Sanjay Circle located in the central business district, will undergo comprehensive modernisation with a hi-tech touch. The announcement came after the MLA inspected the proposed site alongside renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj.

A Majestic Tribute to Kempegowda

The centerpiece of this urban revamp will be a majestic 26-foot-tall statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the revered 16th-century ruler credited with founding Bengaluru. The installation at Sanjay Circle addresses a long-standing demand of the Vokkaliga community, which had been pending for several years. MLA Ravikumar affirmed that the project, estimated to cost around Rs 2 crore, will now be realised, significantly enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Mandya and giving the city a fresh, distinctive look.

Fulfilling Electoral Promises

The Congress MLA connected this development to his election campaign commitments. He recalled promising to build and enhance Mandya's infrastructure and stated that these works are part of fulfilling that pledge. Ravikumar also highlighted that considerable efforts have already been invested in making Mandya a pothole-free city, indicating a broader focus on urban improvement.

This project is poised to redefine Mandya's cityscape, merging historical reverence with modern urban planning, and marking a new chapter in the city's development narrative.
