Telangana Awaits Centre's Nod on 47 Key Proposals Worth Billions Ahead of Union Budget
47 Telangana Proposals Pending Centre Approval Before Budget

Government sources in Hyderabad have revealed that a significant number of development proposals from Telangana are currently awaiting approval or funding from the Central government, with all attention now focused on the upcoming Union Budget to determine what allocations might be earmarked for the state.

Major Infrastructure Projects in Limbo

According to official information, forty-seven proposals spanning twelve different state departments remain pending with the Centre. This extensive list includes several high-value infrastructure initiatives that are crucial for Telangana's continued growth and development.

Transportation and Connectivity Projects

In the critical roads and buildings sector, approval for the ambitious Regional Ring Road (RRR) project continues to await clearance from the Union cabinet, along with substantial funding amounting to ₹34,367.62 crore. Additionally, sanction of ₹45,000 crore remains pending for ten greenfield radial roads that would connect the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR) with the proposed RRR.

The Bandar port-dry port greenfield highway project also requires both approval and funding totaling ₹17,000 crore. Beyond road infrastructure, proposals for new airports at Adilabad, Palvancha, and Basant Nagar (Ramagundam) are awaiting necessary approvals, though the Warangal-Mamnoor airport project has progressed differently.

Rail connectivity enhancements face similar delays, with clearance pending for eight new railway line proposals that would improve transportation networks across the state.

Urban Development and Metro Expansion

For Hyderabad Metro Rail's much-anticipated second phase, approval is still awaited for both Phase IIA and Phase IIB. The total project cost is estimated at approximately ₹44,000 crore, with financial responsibility expected to be shared equally between the state government and the Central government.

Several proposals under backward regions road connectivity programs remain unresolved, including National Highway upgradation projects, the Hyderabad-Srisailam elevated corridor, and six-laning of NH-65.

Energy and Resource Sector Delays

In the energy sector, sanction is pending for six power system development fund transmission projects with a combined worth of ₹281.6 crore. Recognition of SCCL command area coal blocks and mining lease approval for Tadicherla coal block II also await necessary clearances from central authorities.

Water Management and Sanitation Initiatives

Significant water and sanitation projects face funding hurdles, including the Warangal underground drainage project which requires sanction of ₹4,170 crore. For the Musi riverfront development and Bapu ghat projects, both land transfer arrangements and a 60% Government of India grant are still awaited.

A comprehensive Hyderabad sewerage master plan valued at ₹17,212.69 crore has been listed under the AMRUT 2.0 program but requires further processing and approval.

Housing and Urban Development

In the housing sector, sanction remains pending for three lakh rural houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), along with the release of ₹1,800 crore in associated funds. Under the urban counterpart PMAY-U, inclusion of twelve newly formed urban local bodies in the Government of India portal continues to await completion.

The extensive list of pending proposals highlights the complex relationship between state development ambitions and central approval processes, with stakeholders across Telangana eagerly anticipating the Union Budget announcements that could potentially unlock these crucial projects.
