AAP Sarpanch Shot Dead at Punjab Wedding: CCTV Shows Cold-Blooded Murder
AAP Leader Jarmal Singh Shot Dead at Tarn Taran Wedding

A chilling video has emerged showing the brazen and fatal shooting of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and village sarpanch Jarmal Singh at a wedding function in Punjab. The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the state, occurred in broad daylight at a marriage palace in Tarn Taran district.

The Chilling CCTV Footage and Attack Details

The disturbing CCTV clip from the Marigold Marriage Palace in Valtoha village captures the cold-blooded nature of the crime. The footage shows two armed men entering the venue calmly, walking directly towards Jarmal Singh who was seated in the courtyard. Without any hesitation, one of the assailants draws a pistol from his waist and fires a single shot at Singh's head from point-blank range.

The attack took place between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm on Sunday, shortly after the bride and groom had left. Singh collapsed instantly. The attackers, who made no attempt to conceal their faces despite numerous guests being present, fled the scene within moments as stunned wedding attendees looked on helplessly.

Political Reactions and Law & Order Concerns

The murder has triggered a fierce political debate, with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launching a sharp attack on the ruling AAP government. BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh stated that the 'law and order situation in Punjab has deteriorated' and that criminals have no fear under the current administration.

Local MLA Sarwan Singh Dhun, who was present at the function, provided a firsthand account. He revealed that he had been with Singh, sharing tea, before going inside for lunch. He rushed out upon hearing gunshots to find his critically injured colleague. "His death is a great loss to me as he was sarpanch of a big village," the MLA said.

Extortion Threats and Police Investigation

A crucial detail revealed by the MLA is that the deceased sarpanch had been facing threats. Jarmal Singh had received extortion calls prior to his murder and had even filed a formal complaint (FIR) at the Valtoha police station. Police had taken action on his complaint against some individuals, but the threats ultimately proved fatal.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-City) Jagjit Singh Walia confirmed that a detailed probe is underway. "We have initiated a detailed probe into the incident with the help of our human intelligence and technical surveillance. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers. Soon we will trace the attackers," Walia told the media.

While this killing follows the recent public murder of kabaddi promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh (Rana Balachauria) in Mohali, police officials have stated that there is no established link between the two cases at this stage. Investigations into both high-profile shootings are ongoing separately.
