UDF's Adoor Prakash Denies Talks with Jose K Mani Amid LDF Switch Rumors
Adoor Prakash Denies Talks with Jose K Mani on LDF Switch

UDF convener Adoor Prakash has firmly denied any discussions with Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K Mani. Speaking from Thiruvananthapuram, Prakash stated that rumors about Mani switching from the LDF to the UDF are purely media speculation.

No Forced Moves, Says Prakash

Adoor Prakash emphasized that no one will be forced to join the UDF. He said, "Those interested will join the UDF willingly." This comment comes amid ongoing political chatter about potential defections before the state assembly elections.

Clarification on Opposition Leader's Remarks

Regarding opposition leader V D Satheesan's mention of a surprise before the elections, Prakash clarified the UDF's position. He noted, "Only the opposition leader will know about it, and it should be asked directly to him." Prakash made it clear that the UDF has not claimed any surprises in this context.

Decision on MPs Contesting Elections

Prakash added that the decision on whether MPs should contest in the state assembly elections will be made by the AICC. This highlights the central leadership's role in shaping the UDF's electoral strategy.

Behind-the-Scenes Moves in KC(M)

While Jose K Mani has reiterated that there were no discussions with the UDF, sources indicate active behind-the-scenes moves within the Mani faction of Kerala Congress (M). These moves are reportedly focused on a potential front switch.

The CPM has been unable to assure that Mani will remain with the LDF. Left leaders have continued to communicate with Roshy Augustine, a minister from KC(M). Even if Mani decides to join the UDF, Roshy Augustine is determined to stay with the Left, according to insiders.

Upcoming Steering Committee Meeting

The upcoming steering committee meeting on January 16 is seen as crucial. The final decision on the front switch is expected to be made during this meeting, adding to the political suspense.

MLA Pramod Narayanan's View

KC(M) MLA Pramod Narayanan commented that discussions about a front switch are irrelevant. He pointed out that Mani has already clarified the matter, suggesting that the issue might be overblown in media reports.
