Haryana's Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, took swift and strict action on Thursday after hearing a series of serious complaints from the public at his residence in Ambala Cantonment. The minister issued direct instructions to police officials, addressing grievances ranging from alleged police misconduct to financial fraud and administrative delays.
Minister Intervenes in Police Misconduct Allegation
One of the most serious complaints came from a married woman who alleged misconduct at the Mahesh Nagar Police Station in Ambala Cantonment. The woman stated that she had approached the police station to file a complaint after being abandoned by her husband. Instead of assisting her, she claimed a police staff member threatened to lock her up. Taking immediate and serious note of the allegation, Minister Anil Vij personally called the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mahesh Nagar PS. He directed the officer to ensure prompt and decisive action is taken against the concerned policeman. Vij also instructed the police to act swiftly to resolve the woman's original grievance.
Multiple Public Issues Brought to Light
The minister's public hearing session revealed several other pressing issues affecting local residents. Employees working under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) in the health department informed Vij that they had not received their salaries for the past two months. They also reported that their names were missing from the official portal, complicating the matter. Minister Vij assured them of an early resolution to their problem.
In a case of alleged fraud, a youth from Brahman Majra village reported being duped of ₹50,000 by a travel agency on the pretext of arranging a tour package to Thailand. The agency neither provided the tour nor refunded his money. Taking cognisance, Vij directed the police to register a formal case and initiate legal action against the agency.
Contractor Disappears, Land Record Discrepancies
Further complaints highlighted ongoing issues with trust and governance. A retired Air Force personnel complained that he had paid a hefty sum of ₹50 lakh to a contractor for constructing a house in Defence Colony. The contractor allegedly abandoned the work midway and disappeared without refunding the money. Vij instructed the Panjokhra Sahib police station to take action in this matter.
Similarly, an elderly resident from Shahpur raised concerns about discrepancies in his land records. In a separate complaint, women from Panjokhra Sahib accused some local youths of threatening them. In all these cases, Minister Vij instructed the concerned officials and police authorities to act promptly to deliver justice and resolve the matters.
The session underscored the minister's direct approach to public grievance redressal, with immediate on-the-spot orders to administrative and police personnel to investigate and act.
