Just days earlier, Meti's sons issued a public statement urging party workers to avoid confusion, emphasizing that "the entire Meti family and Congress workers in the constituency are still grieving" and that no internal discussions about ticket allocation had occurred.
The statement further clarified that "the Meti family is committed to the decision of the party high command" and that workers should not be misled by rumors. It concluded with assurance that "the entire Meti family will abide by that decision" and that "there is no confusion or difference of opinion within our family."
