Tragic Suicide of Bengaluru Bodybuilder Following Ex-Partner's Engagement
A 29-year-old gym trainer and competitive bodybuilder allegedly died by suicide at his residence in north Bengaluru on Saturday, after discovering that his former lover was engaged to marry another man. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about emotional distress and relationship pressures.
Details of the Heartbreaking Incident
Kiran Kumar, a resident of Geleyara Balaga Layout in Mahalakshmi Layout, was found hanging in his room by his elder brother after he failed to emerge for an extended period. According to police reports, earlier that evening, Kiran had requested a white sheet of paper and a pen from his mother, ostensibly to document some financial transactions. When he did not come out, family members grew increasingly anxious, leading to the forced entry into his room.
Kiran, who had participated in several bodybuilding competitions, left behind a handwritten death note that named his former partner and her mother as responsible for his tragic decision. In the note, he also recorded the password to his mobile phone, potentially to aid investigators. His family members revealed that Kiran had been in a relationship with the woman for nearly three years and had introduced her to them as his future wife.
Emotional Turmoil and Allegations
Family sources stated that Kiran had been deeply disturbed for the past two weeks after the woman informed him of her engagement. They claimed she had shown him her wedding invitation and a sari purchased for the ceremony, which devastated him. Kiran had reportedly planned to celebrate Valentine's Day with her and present her with a gift, highlighting his ongoing emotional attachment.
Further allegations from the family include that Kiran had spent a significant portion of his earnings to clear a loan for the woman, adding a financial dimension to the personal tragedy. After a thorough autopsy, his body was handed over to the grieving family for last rites.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Bengaluru police have registered a case under BNS Section 108 for abetment to suicide based on the contents of the death note. A senior investigating officer disclosed that the woman named in the note admitted to having a past relationship with Kiran but asserted that it ended approximately six months ago. She categorically denied meeting him recently, showing any wedding invitation, or accepting money from him.
The police are continuing their investigation to verify the conflicting accounts and gather more evidence. This case underscores the severe emotional impact of relationship breakdowns and the importance of mental health support during such crises.
