Bengaluru Police File Case Over Unauthorised Yash Birthday Banners
Bengaluru Police Case Over Yash Birthday Banners

Police in Bengaluru have taken legal action against several individuals. The case involves the unauthorised installation of large banners and buntings on public property. These displays featured the portrait of popular Kannada actor Yash.

Complaint Details

Pujarappa, an assistant engineer with the GBA's Vasanthnagar sub-division, filed the official complaint. He received a phone call from the GBA chief commissioner on January 9th. The commissioner reported seeing the banners while travelling between Basaveshwara Circle and Windsor Manor Circle.

Investigation Findings

Pujarappa visited the location with the assistant executive engineer. They discovered that two entities, GS Creation and Venu Group, had installed the materials. The banners and buntings were placed on the wall of the Golf Club. The installation was part of celebrations for actor Yash's birthday.

The complaint clearly states that no permission was obtained. The individuals did not seek approval from any competent authority or the civic body. This action directly violates established norms governing the use of public spaces in the city.

Legal Action

Based on the formal complaint, High Grounds police registered a case. They invoked the Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act. This legislation specifically addresses the defacement of public areas through unauthorised advertisements and displays.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about visual pollution in Bengaluru. City authorities continue to enforce regulations against illegal hoardings and banners that clutter public spaces.
