In a strongly worded address at a Republic Day function in Patna, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary delivered a stern warning to police personnel across the state. He declared that officers who do not know how to properly use their weapons should immediately resign and stay at home.

The deputy chief minister's remarks come at a time when the state government faces sustained attacks from opposition parties regarding law and order issues. Recent crime incidents, including the alleged rape and murder of a minor medical aspirant in Patna, have intensified scrutiny on policing effectiveness in Bihar.

Samrat Choudhary emphasized that the "garbage" of crime and anarchy must not be allowed to persist in society under any circumstances. He stated that Bihar police must not only strengthen law and order mechanisms but also play an active role in the state's overall development.
"This is a changed India," the home minister asserted. "Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given complete freedom to the country's three armed forces, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also made it clear that no police officer in Bihar will have their hands tied."
No Compromise on Security
Choudhary made it unequivocally clear that there would be absolutely no compromise on maintaining law and order in the state. He highlighted the government's achievements in providing electricity, roads, and water to every village, noting that a comprehensive network of industries is now being established across Bihar.
"In such a situation, the role of the police becomes even more crucial," the deputy chief minister explained, emphasizing the intrinsic link between security and economic development.

Elaborating on this connection, Samrat Choudhary stated that increasing revenue is essential for Bihar's rapid progress, and this objective can only be achieved through substantial industrial expansion. "Creating a safe and reliable environment for this industrial growth is a major responsibility of the police," he added, outlining the force's expanded role beyond traditional law enforcement.
Ministerial Support and Opposition Criticism
Industries Minister Dilip Jaiswal strongly endorsed the home minister's remarks, affirming that the rule of law prevails in Bihar. He stressed that police officers and government employees must discharge their duties with complete honesty and integrity.
"While improvements in the system are necessary, it is more important that everyone performs their duties properly," Jaiswal emphasized during the Republic Day function.
However, RJD spokesman Ejaz Ahmad offered sharp criticism of the deputy chief minister's statements. He argued that the home minister should focus on concrete action rather than issuing sermons and indulging in political rhetoric, reflecting the ongoing political tensions surrounding law and order in Bihar.
