Left-wing political parties in Bihar have launched a strong condemnation against the recent military action ordered by United States President Donald Trump against Venezuela. The parties allege the move constitutes a blatant violation of the South American nation's sovereignty.
Separate Demonstrations in State Capital
On Monday, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held separate protest demonstrations in Patna to voice their outrage. The CPI(ML) organized its agitation under the banner of the All India People's Front near the Buddha Smriti Park. The party functionary Kamlesh Sharma led this demonstration.
Simultaneously, the CPM staged its own protest near the bustling Patna Junction. These actions marked the initial response from the state's Left factions to the international incident.
Preparations for Statewide Agitation
The protests in the capital are likely just the beginning. The Left parties in Bihar are actively preparing to organize joint mass protests across the entire state. Kunal, the CPI(ML) state secretary, clarified that Monday's event was a symbolic gesture. He did not rule out the possibility of larger, statewide mass protests in the near future.
Kunal revealed that five major Left parties had already united at the national level to condemn the US action. The CPM, CPI, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc, and CPI(ML) issued a joint national statement on Saturday expressing their collective disapproval.
"If a national call is given for joint mass protests, we will also respond in the state in accordance with that call," Kunal stated, indicating their readiness to escalate the movement.
Coordination and Future Plans
Arun Kumar Mishra, a senior CPM state leader, provided further insight into the coordination efforts. He mentioned that no formal meeting of the state's Left parties has been convened yet specifically for this issue. However, he confirmed that should a national call for protest be issued, a meeting would immediately be organized to plan a joint mass protest in Bihar.
Adding to the chorus of condemnation, Ram Naresh Pandey, the state CPI secretary, issued a separate statement on Sunday. He strongly condemned the US action and made a public appeal, urging people across Bihar to come forward and register their protest. Pandey also directed all party units to remain prepared to organize large-scale demonstrations in the coming days.
The situation remains fluid, with the Left parties in Bihar poised to intensify their agitation depending on the national leadership's directive and the evolving international scenario concerning Venezuela.
