In a scathing attack on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh declared on Monday that violence and gunfire have reached the doorstep of every Punjabi household. He issued a strong appeal for all political forces to unite in safeguarding the border state from what he termed as dangerous anti-national elements and criminal networks thriving under the current administration.
An Atmosphere of Fear and Insecurity
Tarun Chugh painted a grim picture of the current situation in Punjab. He asserted that the people of the state are more terrified now than they were even during the most intense periods of separatism and militancy in its past. "Every section of society is living in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity," Chugh claimed, squarely blaming the misrule of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government for this alarming decline in law and order.
Punjab Becoming a 'State of Blood and Bullets'
The BJP leader escalated his criticism by alleging that Punjab is undergoing a rapid and disturbing transformation. "The situation is extremely alarming, as Punjab is rapidly turning into a state of blood and bullets," he stated. Chugh accused the state government of allowing gangsters and mafia groups to operate with impunity, openly ruling through fear and gunfire. He further alleged a deep-seated collusion, claiming that the AAP government is itself involved with these mafias and is indulging in corrupt and criminal activities.
A Call for Political Unity
Central to Tarun Chugh's statement from Chandigarh was a call for collective political action. He urged all political parties to set aside their differences and come forward to protect Punjab. His appeal framed the issue as a battle for the state's safety against "the dangerous designs of anti-national forces and criminal networks" which, according to him, are flourishing under the present AAP regime. This statement marks a significant escalation in the BJP's political offensive against the Bhagwant Mann government, focusing squarely on the critical issue of law and order.
