BRS Leaders Decry SIT Notices to KCR as Political Vendetta in Hyderabad
In a strong reaction from Hyderabad, leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Thursday vehemently condemned the notices served by the special investigation team (SIT) to party supremo and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. They asserted that this move is a diversionary tactic orchestrated by the Congress government to shift focus from its administrative failures and governance lapses.
Political Vendetta Allegations by Senior BRS Figures
Prominent BRS leaders, including working president KT Rama Rao and former minister and deputy leader T Harish Rao, along with several other MLAs and MLCs, accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of engaging in political vendetta. They argued that the issuance of notices under the pretext of investigations is merely an attempt to cover up the government's incompetence and divert public attention.
KT Rama Rao, in a fiery statement, highlighted KCR's legacy, describing him as a great leader who achieved Telangana through a long and determined struggle. He emphasized that the people of Telangana will teach a lesson to the Congress for such actions. KTR further elaborated on KCR's visionary leadership, noting initiatives like the irrigation revolution, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, and Dalit Bandhu that have driven the state on a path of development.
He criticized the Congress government, stating that it came to power on false promises and lies, and has failed to fulfil its commitments within a year, leading to public disillusionment. "Issuing notices to KCR under the pretence of investigations to cover up their failures and divert public attention from governance lapses is a prime example of malicious political vendetta," KTR added, concluding that this is not justice but political malice.
Protests and Public Outcry in Hyderabad
Soon after the notices were served on Thursday, some BRS leaders and student wing members took to the streets in Hyderabad, burning effigies of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at key locations such as Agrasen Chowrasta and Osmania University. This public demonstration underscored the growing discontent within the party and its supporters over what they perceive as targeted harassment.
Harish Rao, the BRS deputy leader, echoed these sentiments, alleging that political conspiracies are being hatched by the Revanth Reddy government against KCR. He pointed out that the notices are being used as a tool to divert attention from administrative incompetence and the Singareni coal scam. "Issuing notices under the guise of SIT to divert attention from the growing public discontent due to administrative incompetence and to shift focus from the Singareni coal scam is the pinnacle of Revanth Reddy's petty and cheap politics," Harish Rao stated.
Broader Implications for Telangana Politics
The condemnation by BRS leaders highlights the deepening political rift in Telangana, with the opposition party accusing the ruling Congress of using state machinery for vendetta politics. This incident is likely to fuel further debates on governance, accountability, and the use of investigative agencies in political contexts. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this will impact public perception and the upcoming political dynamics in the state.
