Chinese Manja Causes Two Injuries in Hyderabad Within Hours

Hyderabad witnessed two alarming incidents involving Chinese manja kite strings on Monday, leaving a police officer and a woman with serious injuries. The sharp, glass-coated strings continue to pose a significant threat to public safety in the city.

Police Officer Injured While on Duty

Assistant Sub-Inspector B Nagaraju from Nallakunta police station sustained injuries while traveling to work. The officer was heading from his Uppal residence to the Exhibition Grounds at Nampally when the dangerous kite string struck him.

Authorities immediately shifted Nagaraju to Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar for emergency treatment. Medical staff confirmed the officer is now out of danger and receiving proper care at the facility.

"He is out of danger now," stated an official from Nallakunta Police Station, providing reassurance about the officer's condition.

Woman Suffers Deep Cuts in Separate Incident

In a completely separate occurrence, a local woman experienced serious injuries from Chinese manja in Meerpet, Rangareddy district. The incident happened during Monday afternoon as she walked through Almasguda.

The sharp kite string wrapped tightly around her leg, causing deep lacerations and significant bleeding. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital where medical professionals treated her wounds.

Doctors stabilized her condition and eventually discharged her to recover at home. Police noted that authorities did not register a formal case regarding this particular incident.

Ongoing Safety Concerns

These back-to-back incidents highlight the persistent danger Chinese manja presents to Hyderabad residents. The reinforced kite strings, often coated with glass or metal particles, can cause severe injuries to:

  • Pedestrians walking in open areas
  • Motorists traveling on roads
  • Children playing outdoors
  • Animals in the vicinity

Despite previous bans and awareness campaigns, these hazardous materials continue to circulate in the city. The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the need for stricter enforcement and public education about the dangers of Chinese manja.

Local authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report any sightings of these dangerous kite strings immediately. Community cooperation remains essential to prevent further injuries and ensure public safety across Hyderabad neighborhoods.
