Thousands of residents gathered to pay their final respects to the legislator, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent mob attack in Imphal on May 4, 2023.

Total Shutdown Enforced by Student and Community Organizations

The shutdown was called by the Zomi Students' Federation along with several other local organizations, leading to the closure of all shops, educational institutions, and government offices across Churachandpur. Only essential services were exempted, including examinations, medical emergencies, and media operations, ensuring minimal disruption to critical activities while honoring the solemn occasion.

MLA Valte's body, which was transported from Delhi, was taken in a solemn procession through Singngat and Churachandpur. The journey was marked by emotional tributes, with gun salutes offered at various points along the route as a mark of respect for the deceased leader. State governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Jiribam MLA Achan Uddin were among the dignitaries who paid their respects, highlighting the widespread mourning across political and administrative circles.
