Assam Chief Minister Launches Grassroots 'Booth Vijay' Campaign Ahead of Elections

In a strategic move to bolster voter engagement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially inaugurated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) "Booth Vijay" campaign on Thursday. The launch took place at a booth within his home constituency of Jalukbari, located in the Kamrup district, marking a significant effort to enhance direct connections between the party and the electorate in the run-up to the upcoming assembly elections for the 126-member legislative house.

Direct Outreach at the Booth Level

As part of this initiative, CM Sarma personally interacted with residents under Booth Number 32 in Jalukbari, emphasizing the campaign's core objective: strengthening grassroots outreach. Speaking to the media, he outlined the campaign's methodology, which focuses on intensifying door-to-door engagement at the booth level. "Under this campaign, our workers will visit every household under a booth and provide them with a party flag, along with sticking a party sticker on the wall and distributing a pamphlet detailing 50 successes or achievements of the BJP government," Sarma explained.

He further clarified that these activities would only be conducted with the explicit permission of the residents. "Our workers will not proceed if the residents disagree," he assured, highlighting the party's commitment to respectful and consensual engagement.

A Personal Campaign for the Veteran Leader

Reflecting on his involvement, CM Sarma described his participation as a small campaign within his constituency. "I have been contesting in Jalukbari for a long time, and I will be doing so again this election. Thus, this serves as a kind of modest campaign effort for me personally," he remarked. His political journey in Jalukbari is notable, having won all five previous assembly elections since 2001. He secured victories in 2001, 2006, and 2011 on Congress tickets, and after joining the BJP in August 2015, he triumphed in 2016 and 2021. Now, he is set to contest for a sixth term from this constituency.

Statewide Mobilization Strategy

The Booth Vijay drive is designed as a comprehensive mobilization effort across Assam, targeting approximately 28,000 booths throughout the state. The campaign's primary focus is on booth-level activities, with party workers tasked with visiting every household to effectively communicate and highlight the various government schemes and achievements. This approach aims to foster a deeper connection with voters and ensure widespread awareness of the BJP's governance record as the election season approaches.

By launching this campaign from his own constituency, CM Sarma not only underscores its importance but also sets a precedent for active, grassroots political engagement in Assam's electoral landscape.
