A couple escaped serious injury after their motorcycle veered off the road and plunged 40 feet into a gorge in Savadatti, Karnataka. The incident occurred on the morning of June 21, 2026, near the Savadatti fort area. Dense bushes and vegetation at the bottom of the gorge cushioned their fall, preventing fatal injuries.
Rescue Operation Details
Local residents alerted emergency services after hearing the crash. A team from the Savadatti police station and fire department arrived within 20 minutes. Using ropes and stretchers, they descended into the gorge and pulled the couple to safety. The victims, identified as Mahesh Patil (28) and his wife Anjali Patil (25) from Belagavi, were taken to the Savadatti government hospital for treatment. Cause of the Accident

Police inspector Suresh Kulkarni stated, "The road conditions in this stretch are known to be tricky, especially during monsoon. We have advised the local authorities to install warning signs and barriers." No other vehicles were involved.
