CPI(M) leader Mohamed Riyas on Saturday accused Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan of spreading lies and failing to support the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest. Riyas also alleged that Satheesan did not respond to the brutal attacks on protesting students by Delhi Police.
Allegations of Lies and Inaction
Speaking to reporters, Riyas claimed that Satheesan had made false statements regarding the CJP protest. He said the chief minister's remarks were intended to mislead the public. Riyas further criticized Satheesan for not condemning the police action against students in Delhi who were demonstrating in support of the CJP.
"He is spreading lies to cover up his failure to stand with the protesters," Riyas said, according to local media.
Political Fallout in Kerala
The accusations have intensified the political rift in Kerala between the ruling CPI(M) and the opposition Congress-led UDF. Satheesan, a prominent Congress leader, has not yet responded to the allegations. The CJP protest, organized by a fringe political group, has drawn attention to issues of student rights and police conduct.
The CPI(M) has demanded a thorough investigation into the police action in Delhi, while the Congress has defended the chief minister's stance.
