CPM Kannur District Secretary Announces Martyr Fund Details to Be Shared Exclusively with Party and Public, Not Media

In a significant development, CPM Kannur district secretary K K Ragesh declared on Friday that the details concerning the martyr fund for slain party worker C V Dhanraj will be presented directly to the public and party workers, bypassing the media entirely. This announcement was made during a news conference held in Kannur, where Ragesh articulated the party's stance on transparency and media representation.

Allegations Against Media and Fund Collection Sources

Ragesh strongly criticized the media, asserting that it does not represent the entire public, which is the primary reason for the party's decision to withhold fund details from journalists. He emphasized that the martyr fund was collected exclusively from party members and cooperative employees, not from the general public. "The fund was collected from party members and cooperative employees, not from the public. Details of the fund would be made at meetings attended by party members and party supporters," Ragesh stated, clarifying the party's approach to disclosure.

Background of Controversy and State Leadership's Stance

This clarification comes in the wake of CPM state secretary M V Govindan's statement on Monday, where he indicated that the party would disclose the fund details to the public. Govindan's remarks were made in response to accusations from expelled party leader V Kunhikrishnan, who alleged misappropriation of funds within the party. Ragesh addressed these allegations head-on, rejecting Kunhikrishnan's claims as baseless.

Rejection of Financial Loss Allegations and Personal Enmity Claims

Ragesh firmly denied Kunhikrishnan's assertion that the CPM suffered a loss of Rs 92 lakh from the party fund and martyr fund, describing it as "pure imagination." He asserted, "Party has not lost even a single rupee," reinforcing the party's financial integrity. Furthermore, Ragesh suggested that Kunhikrishnan's recent book, ‘Nethruthwathe Anigal Thiruthanam' (Followers Should Correct the Leadership), is primarily driven by personal enmity towards MLA T I Madhusoodanan, rather than factual concerns about party funds.

The ongoing controversy highlights internal tensions within the CPM and raises questions about transparency in political funding. As the party prepares to share details with its supporters, the public awaits further developments in this unfolding political saga.
