Former VS Achuthanandan Aide in Congress Talks for Malampuzha Constituency

Kochi: A Suresh, the former personal assistant to the late Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, has been linked to the Malampuzha Assembly seat as a potential Congress candidate. However, Suresh clarified that he has not yet made a final decision regarding this political move.

Congress Leadership Holds Discussions

Suresh revealed that senior Congress leaders have engaged in talks with him about contesting from the Malampuzha constituency. "I have been approached by Congress leaders, but I have not provided a reply so far," he stated. Despite these discussions, Suresh emphasized that he remains a Left sympathizer, aligning himself with individuals who oppose what he describes as "value erosion" within the Left front.

Background of Expulsion from CPM

The political developments come three years after Suresh was expelled from the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He detailed that he submitted three appeals to the party's state secretary and one to the Palakkad district secretary, requesting a reconsideration of the expulsion decision. "No reply was given to my appeals," Suresh noted, adding that he still does not know the specific reasons behind his expulsion from the CPM.

Despite this, Suresh expressed a desire for the CPM to continue its presence in Kerala, indicating a complex relationship with his former party. "The CPM should continue to exist here," he remarked, highlighting his ongoing connection to Leftist ideologies even as he explores opportunities with the Congress.

This situation underscores the fluid dynamics in Kerala politics, where allegiances can shift amid internal party disputes and electoral strategies. Suresh's potential candidacy could influence voter sentiment in Malampuzha, a key constituency in the state's political landscape.
