CM Shivakumar Directs Officials to Proactively Serve Citizens

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday emphasized that the government should reach out to the people rather than expecting citizens to approach the administration for their needs. Speaking at a review meeting in Belagavi, he instructed deputy commissioners, village accountants, and officials from all departments to work in close coordination, remain present at their headquarters, and respond swiftly to public complaints.

Coordination and Accountability Stressed

Shivakumar highlighted the need for seamless inter-departmental collaboration to ensure efficient service delivery. He warned that any negligence or delay in addressing grievances would not be tolerated. The CM also directed officials to regularly visit rural areas to understand ground-level challenges and resolve issues on the spot. According to a government statement, Shivakumar said, "The administration must be accessible and responsive; people should not have to run from pillar to post for their basic needs."

Focus on Field Presence and Timely Redressal

The chief minister specifically instructed village accountants to be available in their assigned areas and to update land records promptly. He also called for regular gram sabhas to gather public feedback. The meeting reviewed the progress of various state schemes and pending works in the Belagavi region. Shivakumar's directive comes amid efforts to improve governance efficiency and public satisfaction across Karnataka.
