Guntur city witnessed significant unrest and law and order concerns on Saturday, as tensions erupted following alleged controversial remarks made by former minister and YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu against Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Background: Flex Banner Dispute Over TTD Laddu Ghee Allegations
The conflict originated from a flex banner erected by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers near the NTR statue at Gorantla. The banner labeled the alleged adulteration in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) laddu ghee as "mahapapam" (great sin), a move that drew immediate objection from Ambati Rambabu. The YSRCP leader demanded the removal of the banner and issued warnings, stating he would take matters into his own hands if necessary.

On Saturday morning, after offering prayers at the Gorantla Venkateswara Swamy temple, Ambati attempted to proceed towards the flexi site. Anticipating a potential clash, police had made extensive security arrangements and advised him against approaching the area, as TDP leaders and activists had gathered there in large numbers.
When police stopped Ambati's vehicle, he allegedly used abusive and vulgar language against Chief Minister Naidu. These remarks are said to have acted as a trigger, leading to a clash and subsequent attack on his office. A mob pelted stones, damaging furniture and vehicles at Ambati's office, escalating the situation into a serious law and order issue.
Political Reactions and Formal Complaints
The remarks sparked immediate and sharp reactions from the TDP. Guntur district TDP president Pilli Manikyala Rao lodged a formal complaint with the district Superintendent of Police, seeking legal action against Ambati Rambabu. In response, TDP activists staged a protest outside Ambati's residence in Navabharat Nagar, demanding an unconditional apology.
The protest saw a large turnout, including women activists led by Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi, which forced police to deploy additional forces to secure the area. Despite these measures, the situation deteriorated with the stone-pelting and vandalism at Ambati's office.
YSRCP Condemns Attack and Ambati's Response
