Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has turned down the demand of residents from Chanot village to supply water from the Bhakra pipeline meant for Hansi. The villagers, who have been protesting for 40 days, decided to continue their agitation after failing to secure an assurance from the CM on this issue.
Delegation Meets CM in Chandigarh
An 11-member delegation of the protesting villagers traveled to Chandigarh to meet CM Saini. Committee members Anoop Singh, Satyawan, and Himanshu stated that during the meeting, Saini clearly said it was not possible to provide water from the Bhakra pipeline. However, he assured them that a separate pipeline would be laid to supply water to the village.
Villagers Decide Next Steps
The committee held a discussion with the protesters at the village dharna site, and it was decided to take a further decision after a meeting scheduled for tomorrow. The villagers have been holding a dharna for the past 40 days, demanding water from the Bhakra pipeline. The CM's refusal has led them to continue their protest until a satisfactory solution is reached.
