Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued a strong condemnation of the murder of Dalit activist Manda Salman in Palnadu district. He stated that law and order in Andhra Pradesh has completely collapsed under the current administration.
Brutal Killing Sparks Outrage
Jagan expressed deep anguish over the incident, alleging that Salman was brutally killed. He directly accused TDP leaders of responsibility for the crime. The activist hailed from Pinnelli village in Gurazala constituency.
"Attacks on YSRCP leaders and workers have become routine across the state," Jagan declared. He claimed the police are failing to provide protection. Instead, he alleged they collude with ruling party leaders.
Safety Concerns for Vulnerable Sections
This situation leaves ordinary citizens without safety or security, according to Jagan. He expressed particular concern for Dalits and weaker sections. He believes they face deliberate targeting and victimization through political vendetta.
"Those responsible for this murder will be brought to justice," Jagan warned. He described the deterioration of law and order as reflecting an absence of rule of law in the state.
Allegations Against Ruling Party
Jagan accused the ruling dispensation of encouraging violence and intimidation against opposition party workers. He spoke directly with Salman's brother over the phone to offer condolences.
During their conversation, Jagan inquired about the family's condition. He assured them of full support from the YSRCP. "Once we return to power, strict action will ensure the guilty are punished," he emphasized.
Family Reports Intimidation
Salman's brother detailed alleged high-handedness and intimidation by local TDP leaders in Pinnelli village. He also complained about false cases filed by local police against YSRCP workers.
According to the brother, police harass YSRCP supporters while supporting ruling party leaders. Gurazala YSRCP in-charge and former MLA Kasu Mahesh provided similar information to Jagan.
Mahesh informed about the prevailing situation in Pinnelli village. He mentioned alleged filing of illegal cases by local police against YSRCP cadres.
Formal Complaint to Police Chief
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party decided to submit a formal representation to the Director General of Police. They seek an immediate appointment on Monday regarding Salman's brutal murder.
In a letter addressed to the State DGP, YSRCP state general secretary and MLC Lella Appi Reddy described the killing. He stated Salman was mercilessly beaten to death with iron rods.
"This reflects the complete breakdown of law and order in the state," Reddy wrote. He added that since the TDP-led coalition government assumed office, Dalits have been left without protection.
Call for Impartial Investigation
Reddy informed that YSRCP Dalit activists now live under constant threat. The party will urge the DGP to ensure a fast-tracked, impartial investigation into the case.
They demand all necessary steps to identify and strictly punish those responsible according to law. The party insists on immediate action to restore security for opposition workers and Dalit communities across Andhra Pradesh.
