JDS Raises Alarm Over Illegal Voters in Bidar North
The Janata Dal (Secular) has alleged that as many as 50,000 illegal voters are included in the electoral rolls of the Bidar North Assembly segment in Karnataka. The party has urged the Election Commission to take immediate action to remove these names before the next elections.
Complaints Filed in Previous Elections
According to JDS leaders, complaints about the inclusion of illegal voters were raised during earlier elections as well, but no corrective measures were taken. The party claims that this has been a persistent issue affecting the fairness of the electoral process in the constituency.
Demand for Verification and Removal
The JDS has demanded a thorough verification of the voter list and the deletion of all bogus entries. Party representatives have submitted a memorandum to the district election officer, highlighting the need for a clean electoral roll. They have also warned of legal action if the matter is not addressed promptly.
Impact on Electoral Integrity
The presence of illegal voters undermines the democratic process, the JDS said. The party stressed that free and fair elections are the cornerstone of democracy, and any manipulation of voter lists must be dealt with strictly. The issue has gained political significance as the state gears up for upcoming polls.
