Leopard Spotted on IIT Bombay Campus
A leopard was seen on the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay campus in a recent incident that has caused alarm among students and faculty. The wild animal was captured on video attacking a dog and dragging it into the bushes.
Incident Details
The event occurred during the early hours of the morning when the leopard was spotted roaming near the academic area. According to eyewitnesses, the leopard swiftly pounced on a stray dog that was wandering nearby. Despite attempts by onlookers to scare the animal away, the leopard managed to drag the dog into the undergrowth.
Security personnel were immediately alerted, and forest department officials were called in to track the leopard. The campus was put on high alert, with advisories issued to students and staff to avoid isolated areas and report any sightings.
Safety Measures
The IIT Bombay administration has taken several steps to ensure the safety of the campus community. Patrols have been increased, and surveillance cameras are being monitored closely. Students have been advised not to venture out alone, especially during early morning and late evening hours.
The forest department has set up traps and is using tranquilizer darts to capture the leopard. Officials believe the animal may have entered the campus from the nearby Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
