Mathura Farmer and Family Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide Case

In a heartbreaking incident in Mathura's Khapparpur village, a farmer, his wife, and their three young children were discovered dead at their home on Tuesday morning. The police were alerted and rushed to the scene, where they found the bodies in one room, along with four chilling 'suicide notes' that have become central to the investigation.

Grisly Discovery and Initial Findings

The bodies were identified as Manish Kumar, 37, his wife Seema, 31, and their children aged 3, 5, and 7. According to police reports, Manish had a burn mark on his hand and was clutching an electric wire, suggesting electrocution. Seema sustained a head injury from a blunt object, while the children bore strangulation marks on their necks. This has led investigators to suspect that Manish allegedly killed his family before taking his own life.

The Four 'Suicide Notes' and Their Contents

Police found four distinct messages left behind by Manish, which they are treating as suicide notes. These included scribbles on a wall, entries in a diary, notes on loose sheets of paper, and a recorded video. In all of them, Manish claimed responsibility for the deaths, stating that he and his wife had acted of their own will and that no one else should be held accountable.

  • On a wall, he wrote: 'Mai Manish aur Seema apni marzi sey marey hai. Police kisi ko paresh nahi karey (I, Manish and Seema have died by our own choice. Police should not harass anyone).'
  • In the video, recorded around 4 am, he reiterated this message and added, 'Hum bahut pareshan they apne dukho se (We were deeply troubled by our sorrows).' He also mentioned a recent land sale, clarifying that he was not accusing the buyer.

Discovery by Brother and Family Background

The tragic scene was discovered by Manish's brother, Vijendra, who lived next door. After knocking on the door and receiving no response, Vijendra climbed over the boundary wall and entered the house, where he found the bodies. Manish and Seema had been married for eight years, and preliminary investigations indicate that the family was not facing any financial hardships or external pressures.

Possible Motives and Ongoing Investigation

Police officers have suggested that Manish may have been suffering from depression, which could have driven him to this extreme step. Additionally, it was revealed that he had been in contact with a local tantrik in the days leading up to the incident, with their last conversation occurring on January 18. However, the exact motives remain unclear as the investigation continues.

Official Statements and Next Steps

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar of Mathura stated that the post-mortem report is still awaited, which will help determine the precise causes of death. He emphasized that further action will be based on the medical examination findings and the ongoing inquiry. 'We are also closely analysing the suicide notes found,' the SSP added, highlighting the importance of these pieces of evidence in understanding the tragedy.

This case has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about mental health issues and the need for better support systems in rural areas. As the police delve deeper into the circumstances, the focus remains on uncovering the full story behind this devastating event.
