Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma chose a grassroots approach to begin the new year, dedicating his first weekend to an extensive tour of rural areas in the Garo Hills region. The CM stated that understanding the pulse of the people remains the top priority for his government.
Direct Engagement in East and North Garo Hills
On Saturday, Sangma visited Bolblong village in East Garo Hills, where he engaged directly with the community. He listened to their concerns and held discussions on various ways to support local development initiatives. The Chief Minister was accompanied by cabinet minister Marcuise N. Marak and MLAs Jim Sangma and Rupert Momin, who also actively highlighted constituency-specific issues.
Later, as part of the state government's flagship 'CM Connect' program, the Chief Minister interacted with residents of Memilam and surrounding areas under the Adokgre Community & Rural Development block in North Garo Hills district. He heard their grievances and discussed potential solutions, emphasizing the initiative's role in bridging gaps between the administration and the public.
'CM Connect': A Bridge to the People
Describing the purpose of his tour, Sangma said it was to spread cheer and foster a deeper connection with the citizens. He highlighted that the CM Connect initiative is fundamentally about listening, taking action, and resolving problems. The tour included stops across villages in both East and North Garo Hills districts, focusing on face-to-face dialogue.
