Naidu Pledges to Transform Rayalaseema into Global Horticulture Powerhouse
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has made a powerful declaration about the future of Andhra Pradesh's Rayalaseema region, asserting that the area once synonymous with water distress is now on track to become a global horticulture hub. Speaking at a public meeting in Kalugatla village within the Yemmiganur assembly constituency of Kurnool district, the CM distributed Pattadar passbooks to beneficiaries under the 'Mee Bhumi-Mee Hakku' initiative while outlining his government's ambitious vision for the region.
Securing Land Rights and Attacking Previous Administration
Naidu launched a scathing critique of the previous YSRCP government's land policies, pledging that his administration would ensure no one could ever again cast an evil eye on farmers' properties. He highlighted the significant symbolic change of restoring the state seal (Rajamudra) on land documents, replacing what he described as the personal photographs of former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The newly distributed passbooks represent a technological leap forward, equipped with QR codes and unique security features specifically designed to make them tamper-proof. "The first decisive action I took after assuming office was to repeal the Land Titling Act, which had become a tool for state-sponsored land grabbing," Naidu stated emphatically.
He revealed alarming statistics about the previous administration's impact: "Nearly 80% of the grievances I receive today are directly related to land disputes deliberately created by the previous government. They systematically used Section 22A to freeze private lands and then deployed their henchmen to coerce farmers into selling their properties at throwaway prices."
Ambitious Digital Land Records Initiative
The Andhra Pradesh government has established an ambitious timeline for securing every land record in the state through comprehensive digitization. Naidu announced that approximately 37.4 lakh passbooks are already prepared and ready for distribution to beneficiaries across the state.
"By April, we have set a concrete target to prepare an additional 18 lakh passbooks for distribution," the Chief Minister asserted. "Looking further ahead, by December 2027, we will have distributed the total pending 62 lakh passbooks to all eligible beneficiaries, ensuring complete transparency and security in land ownership documentation."
Reaffirming Rayalaseema Roots and Development Promises
Reaffirming his deep personal connection as "son of Rayalaseema," Naidu promised that the NDA government would prioritize the region's critical water needs. He made specific commitments to complete several long-pending irrigation projects that would transform agricultural prospects in the drought-prone area.
"We are determined to complete the Vedavati project in West Kurnool, along with the Guru Raghavendra and Rajolibanda projects, to ensure every single acre has reliable access to irrigation," Naidu vowed. "Our government is committed to providing both welfare and development simultaneously. Whether it involves Polavaram, Amaravati, or industrial development in Rayalaseema, our decisions are moving forward at lightning speed."
The Chief Minister highlighted the region's impressive agricultural output as evidence of progress: "Rayalaseema is currently contributing over 200 lakh metric tonnes of horticultural produce annually. This remarkable achievement stands as a testament to the strategic irrigation initiatives and advanced drip-technology programs systematically implemented by our government."
Accusations of Negligence and Financial Promises
Naidu leveled serious accusations of "criminal negligence" against the previous YSRCP government regarding irrigation infrastructure protection. He specifically cited the Polavaram project, claiming the previous administration "drowned Polavaram" in the Godavari River through mismanagement.
"By allowing the critical diaphragm wall to be washed away, they caused an immediate loss of ₹400 crore to the state exchequer," Naidu alleged. "Now, we are compelled to spend an additional ₹1,000 crore to rebuild this essential infrastructure component properly."
In a significant reassurance to citizens, the Chief Minister promised that power tariffs would not be increased under his administration. He emphasized that the public should not bear the financial burden resulting from the state's past fiscal mismanagement, signaling his commitment to responsible governance and economic stability for Andhra Pradesh residents.
