In a significant address during his ongoing tour of Kuppam in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reiterated the state government's unwavering resolve to combat economic inequality through robust economic empowerment initiatives. The second day of his visit saw the CM actively engaging with beneficiaries and reviewing key welfare programs aimed at uplifting the underprivileged sections of society.
Distribution of NTR Bharosa Pensions and Public Address
At Beggipalli village in Gudupalli mandal on Saturday, CM Naidu personally distributed NTR Bharosa pensions to numerous beneficiaries, underscoring the government's commitment to social security. Later, addressing a massive gathering at the Praja Vedika public meeting in Thumsi, Naidu highlighted the substantial financial outlay dedicated to this cause.
The Chief Minister revealed that the state government is disbursing a staggering Rs 2,730 crore every month towards NTR Bharosa pension payments. He emphasized that this amount far exceeds the pension disbursements in neighboring states such as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, showcasing Andhra Pradesh's proactive approach to welfare.
Welfare Measures and Women's Reservation
Naidu elaborated on the numerous welfare measures launched by the TDP-led NDA alliance since returning to power in the state. He pointed out that lakhs of people are benefiting immensely from the Super Six welfare schemes, which are designed to provide comprehensive support across various sectors.
In a forward-looking statement, the CM assured that the 33% reservation for women would soon become a reality in Andhra Pradesh. He expressed confidence that this women's reservation would open new vistas for women to excel in politics, fostering greater gender equality and representation in governance.
Review of P4 Scheme and Corporate Partnerships
Meanwhile, CM Naidu held a detailed interaction with representatives of the P4 Scheme (People-Public-Private Partnership), an innovative initiative aimed at achieving zero poverty in the state. During the review, he assessed the progress with families adopted by major corporate groups, including MEIL (Megha Engineering), Adani Foundation, and TVS.
Under this scheme, corporate partners have appointed "Golden Friends" for every 100 families. These Golden Friends provide crucial guidance on skill development and income generation, helping beneficiaries become self-reliant. Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, noting that the skill training enabled them to secure employment locally, such as at MEIL, without the need to migrate away from their families.
Engagement with SHG Women and MSME Support
In a separate session with SHG (DWACRA) women, CM Naidu discussed the OFOE policy, which is designed to transform every household into a business unit. He underscored the government's support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing up to 95% loan guarantees.
Naidu asserted that since DWACRA groups have an excellent repayment track record, with only 2% non-performing assets (NPA), bankers must cooperate fully to fund their ventures. This move aims to empower women entrepreneurs and boost local economies through sustainable business models.
Overall, CM Naidu's engagements in Tirupati highlighted a multi-faceted approach to reducing economic inequality, combining direct welfare disbursements, corporate partnerships, skill development, and entrepreneurial support to create a more equitable and prosperous Andhra Pradesh.
