Nashik MLA Demands Stronger Police Action Following Stone-Pelting Incident at Police Chowkey

In a significant development highlighting growing law and order concerns in Nashik, Seema Hiray, the Member of Legislative Assembly representing Nashik West constituency, held an urgent meeting with Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik on Monday. This meeting came just one day after unidentified individuals targeted a police chowkey with stones at XLO Point in Ambad, causing damage to window panes.

MLA Intervenes Amid Rising Public Concerns

The MLA's intervention followed persistent complaints from residents of Cidco and surrounding areas who have been increasingly distressed by frequent criminal activities in their neighborhoods. These concerned citizens had previously approached local police officials and subsequently appealed to MLA Seema Hiray to take decisive action to restore peace and security in the region.

"The city police had undertaken a comprehensive 'Rule of Law' campaign throughout Nashik during October, which had yielded positive results," explained MLA Seema Hiray. "However, for reasons yet to be determined, the situation in Ambad has been deteriorating once again. Recognizing what appeared to be police inaction, residents approached me for assistance. Consequently, I met with Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik to seek his direct intervention in this matter."

Details of the Stone-Pelting Incident

The incident that triggered this political intervention occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:00 PM. Anti-social elements targeted the police chowkey located at XLO Point along the crucial Ambad-Satpur link road. The attackers hurled stones at the police outpost, resulting in broken window panes. Fortunately, no police personnel inside the chowkey sustained injuries during the attack. The perpetrators, who were reportedly riding motorcycles, managed to flee the scene immediately after the incident.

Police Response and Investigation

The Ambad police station promptly registered a formal case under Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to attempts to commit culpable homicide. Initially, the accused remained unidentified when the complaint was officially registered on Monday.

However, police authorities later announced significant progress in their investigation. "Based on crucial evidence obtained from CCTV footage, we have successfully apprehended two suspects," confirmed police officials. "Both individuals are approximately 23 years of age. Following their arrest, they have been remanded to police custody until Wednesday for further interrogation and investigation."

Traffic Management Context and Motive

Police authorities provided important context regarding the incident, explaining that various construction activities across Nashik have necessitated traffic diversion through the Ambad-Satpur link road. To maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion, police have been actively issuing challans to vehicles parked improperly along this route.

"The two individuals we arrested had previously received challans for traffic violations," revealed police sources. "Apparently, they became enraged after being penalized, which allegedly motivated them to retaliate by pelting stones at the police chowkey."

This incident has brought renewed attention to the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in maintaining public order while implementing necessary traffic regulations. The MLA's intervention underscores the growing public demand for enhanced security measures and more effective policing strategies in Nashik's residential areas.
