In a significant move to bolster the training capabilities of the state police force, a new shooting training centre was officially inaugurated in Belagavi district on Tuesday. The facility, a project of the Karnataka Police Department, is set to become a crucial hub for honing the skills of police personnel in the region.
A Long-Awaited Facility for Belagavi Police
District Minister Satish Jarkiholi inaugurated the centre, which is located near Paschapur village in the Yamakanamaradi constituency. Addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Jarkiholi described the event as a moment of immense pride for Belagavi district. He emphasized the long-standing need for such a dedicated facility within the district's boundaries.
The minister highlighted that until now, police personnel from Belagavi were forced to depend on training centres located in other districts or had to utilise facilities associated with the army for their shooting practice and training exercises. "With the establishment of this centre, the police department can now conduct shooting practice and training independently," Jarkiholi stated, underlining the new autonomy and convenience the facility provides.
Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Training Infrastructure
Minister Jarkiholi elaborated on the broader impact of the new centre, noting that it would play a crucial role in strengthening the overall training infrastructure of the Karnataka Police. By providing a modern, accessible venue for rigorous and regular practice, the facility is expected to directly enhance the operational efficiency and preparedness of the police force. Better-trained personnel equipped with proficient shooting skills are vital for effective law enforcement and public safety operations.
Senior Officials Grace the Inauguration
The inauguration event was attended by several senior police officials, underscoring the importance of this new infrastructure. Among those present were SP Bhimashankar Guled, Additional SPs RB Basargi and Ashok Zanzarwad, along with other dignitaries from the police department. Their presence signified the department's commitment to upgrading its training modules and providing its personnel with the best possible resources.
The establishment of the Belagavi shooting training centre marks a concrete step towards decentralizing and modernizing police training in Karnataka. It promises to save time and resources previously spent on travel, allowing for more frequent and focused training sessions for Belagavi's police personnel, ultimately contributing to a more robust security apparatus in the region.
