Nitish Kumar Inspects Bihar's New Rs 54 Crore Fisheries Development Building

Patna Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a detailed inspection of the newly constructed fisheries development building in the Mithapur area on Monday. During his visit, the CM issued clear instructions to officials to ensure that all necessary facilities are made available for fish farmers within this state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Advanced Training and Research Facilities

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the new building, constructed under the Directorate of Fisheries, spans 2.43 acres and was built at a cost of Rs 54.39 crore. The facility is equipped to provide simultaneous training to 120 farmers in scientific and advanced fish farming techniques. Additionally, the premises include a dedicated hostel for trainers, a comprehensive fish farming research centre, and modern laboratories.

Research and training activities focused on the development of the fisheries sector will be centralized in this building, officials confirmed to the CM during the inspection.

CM's Directives for Swift Implementation

Nitish Kumar directed officials to expedite the relocation of the dairy, fisheries, and animal resources department to the new building as soon as possible. He emphasized the importance of installing railings of sufficient height on each floor to ensure safety standards are met.

The CM stressed that all essential facilities must be operationalized promptly so that fish farmers can derive maximum benefit, thereby contributing to Bihar's progress in the fisheries domain.

Bihar's Agricultural Progress and Fisheries Ambition

The officials highlighted that the state's agriculture roadmap has already led to significant increases in the production of vegetables, milk, eggs, meat, fruits, and other crops, greatly benefiting farmers across Bihar. Every possible effort is being made to position Bihar as a leading state in fish production as well, they assured the Chief Minister.

The inspection was attended by several senior officials, including Principal Secretary to the CM Deepak Kumar, Secretaries to the CM Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh, Secretary of Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department Shirshat Kapil Ashok, Director of Fisheries Tushar Singla, and DM Thiyagarajan SM, among others.
