In a decisive move against the unlawful extraction of natural resources, the administration in Punjab's Patiala district has launched a targeted crackdown. The operation, spearheaded by a senior official, led to the immediate seizure of vehicles involved in the illicit trade.
Raids Uncover Illegal Transportation
On Thursday, Ashok Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Patran, personally conducted surprise inspections across the sub-division. The primary objective was to identify and halt unauthorized mining activities that have been plaguing the region. During these coordinated raids, the enforcement team successfully intercepted two tractor-trolleys that were found to be transporting soil without any legal permission.
On-the-Spot Penalties and Police Handover
The officials did not waste any time in taking action against the offenders. The tractor-trolleys were challaned on the spot, imposing fines for violating mining laws. Furthermore, both the vehicles and the illegally mined sand they were carrying were confiscated. As per the standard legal procedure, the seized trolleys and material were handed over to the local police. The police will now be responsible for the necessary further action, which may include filing a formal case against those responsible.
A Stern Warning for Future Offenders
SDM Ashok Kumar made the administration's stance unequivocally clear following the operation. He emphasized that such enforcement drives are not a one-time event but part of a sustained strategy. Raids will continue in the future to ensure strict compliance with all mining regulations. Kumar issued a stern warning, stating that anyone found involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of soil, sand, or other natural resources will face severe legal consequences. The administration is committed to preserving state resources and preventing environmental degradation caused by such unlawful activities.
