Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, K Pawan Kalyan, is set to undertake a significant visit to the revered Kondagattu Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple in Jagtial town, Telangana, this Saturday. This pilgrimage marks the fulfillment of a vow he made during the recent election campaign.
A Sacred Promise Fulfilled
The visit holds deep personal significance for Pawan Kalyan, who considers Lord Anjaneya his Ishta Daivam (chosen deity). He had pledged to visit the temple if he emerged victorious in the elections. True to his word, he is now returning to the shrine after his electoral success. During a previous visit post-elections, temple priests and officials highlighted the difficulties faced by devotees, particularly those traveling from far-off places, due to inadequate facilities.
TTD's Major Grant for Pilgrim Amenities
Acting on the concerns raised, Pawan Kalyan took proactive steps. He proposed a series of developmental works to be undertaken with support from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The matter was escalated to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and discussed in detail with TTD Chairman, BR Naidu. Following these deliberations, the TTD Board has sanctioned a substantial sum of Rs 35.19 crore for the project.
The allocated funds will be utilized for two critical infrastructure projects:
- A Deeksha Viramana Mandapam designed to accommodate approximately 2,000 devotees simultaneously for completing their deeksha rituals.
- A 96-room pilgrims' rest house to provide shelter and comfort to visitors.
Pawan Kalyan and TTD Chairman BR Naidu will jointly participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for these works during the visit.
Political Outreach in Telangana
Beyond the religious ceremony, the Deputy Chief Minister's itinerary includes a political component. After the temple program, he is scheduled to meet with leaders, cadres of the Jana Sena Party from Telangana, and representatives who were successful in the recent Telangana panchayat elections with the party's support. This underscores the ongoing political engagement of the Andhra Pradesh-based party in the neighboring state.
The development at the Kondagattu temple, fueled by the TTD grant, is expected to significantly enhance the pilgrimage experience and ease the hardships faced by countless devotees, turning a personal vow into a public benefit.
