Rajasthan Budget Session 2026 Inaugurated with Development Blueprint
Governor Haribhau Bagde formally initiated the Rajasthan Assembly's Budget Session 2026 on Wednesday in Jaipur, presenting a comprehensive roadmap for the state's development. The session, which marks a pivotal moment for Rajasthan's future, focuses on critical areas including water security, investment promotion, infrastructure enhancement, employment generation, and youth empowerment.
Water Security and Agricultural Infrastructure
In his address to the House, which lasted nearly an hour and twenty-one minutes, Governor Bagde emphasized the state's commitment to addressing water scarcity. He revealed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for bringing Yamuna water to Rajasthan is in its final stages, a move expected to significantly bolster the state's water resources.
Furthermore, Bagde highlighted substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure, noting that Rs 2,800 crore has been spent on the rejuvenation of the Indira Gandhi Canal. Additional irrigation projects linked to the canal are currently underway, aimed at strengthening Rajasthan's agricultural backbone and ensuring sustainable farming practices.
Investment and Economic Growth
The Governor underscored Rajasthan's growing appeal as an investment destination, attributing this to the state's robust law and order situation and industry-friendly environment. He referenced the successful Rising Rajasthan Summit, where Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹35 lakh crore were signed.
Of these, investments worth ₹8 lakh crore have already materialized on the ground, demonstrating the state's effective implementation capabilities and its potential to drive economic growth through strategic partnerships.
Employment and Youth Empowerment Initiatives
On the front of employment and youth empowerment, Governor Bagde announced significant steps by the state government. A recruitment calendar for one lakh new jobs has been released, targeting various sectors to boost employment opportunities.
Additionally, a new youth policy has been implemented, focusing on skill development, entrepreneurship, and holistic support for the younger generation, ensuring they are equipped to contribute to Rajasthan's progress.
Infrastructure and Industrial Projects
Bagde also provided updates on major infrastructure projects, including the state's first refinery-cum-petrochemical complex. He stated that more than Rs 63,500 crore has been invested in this project, which is now in its final phase.
The government is committed to completing the complex at the earliest, which is expected to enhance Rajasthan's industrial capacity, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity in the region.
Overall, the Budget Session 2026 sets a forward-looking agenda for Rajasthan, with Governor Bagde's address laying the groundwork for transformative development across key sectors.
