The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working Committee on Friday strongly condemned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly challenging the authority of the Akal Takht at public forums. The committee stated that such actions are hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
Committee's Resolution and Demands
The committee, led by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, noted that the Chief Minister is deliberately creating divisions within the Sikh community. Senior party leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema announced that the committee passed a resolution demanding the immediate resignation of CM Mann. The resolution also discussed how the CM is attempting to cover up what the party called 'his sins.'
Majithia's Press Conference
Meanwhile, senior SAD leader Bikram Majithia held a press conference in Chandigarh on Friday. He claimed that a false case was registered against him because he allegedly exposed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government by recovering party worker Jobanpreet Singh from the residence of the Majitha police station SHO. Majithia asserted that his only intention in going to the police station was to protect the human rights of the Akali worker. He highlighted that the court ruled Jobanpreet's arrest as illegal and passed strictures against DSP Kamalpreet Singh.
