In anticipation of a massive tourist influx, the Shimla district administration has rolled out an extensive plan to ensure seamless festivities during the upcoming Winter Carnival, Christmas, and New Year celebrations. The special arrangements will be active for ten days, from December 24, 2025, to January 2, 2026, aiming to provide a secure and convenient environment for both visitors and locals.
Administrative Blueprint for Peak Tourist Season
District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap highlighted the critical need for reinforced administrative and security measures, citing the traditional sharp rise in visitor numbers to the hill station during this period. To manage the anticipated crowds and traffic efficiently, a strategic operational model has been put in place.
Shimla city has been segmented into five distinct sectors. Each sector will be under the direct supervision of a designated officer from the district administration. The overall coordination and responsibility for all five sectors have been entrusted to Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma.
Multi-Agency Teams and Safety Measures
As per official orders issued on Tuesday, every sector will have a dedicated joint team comprising administrative officials and police personnel. The Superintendent of Police has already ensured the deployment of adequate police force across all sensitive zones and high-traffic areas to maintain robust law and order.
Proactive steps for medical emergencies have also been taken. Ambulances will be strategically stationed at major entry points to Shimla, ensuring rapid response capabilities. This move is part of a holistic approach to handle any unforeseen situations during the bustling festive days.
