Six Sarpanches Booked in Kamareddy for Mass Killing of Stray Dogs
Police in Kamareddy district have taken legal action against six people. This group includes five sarpanches. They face charges related to the mass killing of stray dogs.
Similar Incident in Hanamkonda District
Earlier, a similar case emerged in Hanamkonda district. Authorities booked nine individuals there. The accused include two women sarpanches and their husbands. They allegedly killed around 300 stray dogs in Shayampet and Arepally villages.
Election Promises and Alleged Fulfillment
Sources indicate a troubling pattern. Ahead of the December gram panchayat elections, some candidates made specific promises. They vowed to tackle the stray dog and monkey menace in their areas. Now, these individuals are allegedly "fulfilling" those promises through these brutal killings.
Forensic Investigation Underway
Veterinary teams have moved quickly to investigate. They exhumed the carcasses of the dogs. Post-mortem examinations were conducted on the remains. Viscera samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The FSL will analyze these samples. Their goal is to determine the exact cause of death and identify any substances used in the killings.
This case highlights a serious issue of animal cruelty potentially linked to political campaigns. The police are continuing their investigation into both incidents.
