In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district, a man allegedly killed his father with an axe while he was sleeping. The accused, identified as Ravi, was arrested by the police on Friday.
Property Dispute Led to the Murder
According to police, the incident took place in the Pipraich area late Thursday night. Ravi had a long-standing dispute with his father, Ramashankar, over property. On the night of the murder, Ravi allegedly took an axe and struck his father multiple times on the head, killing him instantly.
Police Action and Investigation
Neighbors alerted the police after hearing noises from the house. When officers reached the spot, they found Ramashankar's body in a pool of blood. The axe used in the crime was recovered from the scene. Ravi was taken into custody for questioning and later confessed to the crime.
Circle Officer (CO) Pipraich, Dinesh Singh, said, "The accused has been arrested. He admitted to killing his father over a property dispute. We are investigating the matter further."
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police are also recording statements of family members and neighbors to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
