Tragic Gorge Accident in Uttarakhand Claims Three Lives, Including Infant
A devastating road accident in Uttarakhand's Bageshwar district resulted in three fatalities, including an 11-month-old baby, and left five others injured on Thursday evening. The incident occurred when a Delhi-registered car plunged into a 150-meter deep gorge on the Takula-Almora road, according to local police authorities.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The tragic accident took place near Basoli between Churadi and Mahendra Club around 5:12 PM. Police reported that the vehicle lost control on a sharp bend, leading to the catastrophic plunge. The car was carrying relatives from the bride's side who were returning to Delhi after attending a wedding ceremony in Jhijhad village.
The deceased victims have been identified as:
- 11-month-old Rehan Arya
- Manju Devi (44), a resident of Kande
- Dinesh Ram (50), a resident of Jhijhad
Rescue Operation and Medical Response
Upon receiving the emergency alert, police from Takula outpost, fire service personnel, and local villagers immediately rushed to the accident site. They launched a challenging joint rescue operation to extract the victims from the deep gorge.
The injured individuals were pulled out with considerable difficulty and initially taken to Takula Primary Health Centre for first aid. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to Almora Base Hospital for advanced medical treatment.
The injured persons include:
- Jaya (25), mother of deceased infant Rehan
- Mahesh Arya (28), father of deceased infant Rehan, both from Thapaniya
- Gopal Arya (50) from Kande
- Sanjay Kumar (21) from Kande
- Driver Arjun Kumar (35), a resident of Fatehpur Beri in south Delhi
Police confirmed that two of the injured victims were in critical condition following the accident. The vehicle involved bore registration number DL-9CBH-8402.
