GUWAHATI: Campus security tensions have escalated at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Silchar as prominent right-wing organizations intensify their demand for a high-level investigation into alleged suspicious activities on campus.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have formally requested the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to intervene and probe what they describe as "jihadi activities" and religious conversion operations targeting students within the prestigious technical institution.
Growing Security Concerns at Premier Technical Institute
According to representatives from both organizations, the campus has become a hotspot for concerning activities that threaten both national security and the safety of students. The groups allege systematic efforts to radicalize and convert Hindu students through various means.
"We have observed disturbing patterns that require immediate attention from central investigation agencies," stated a senior VHP official. "The situation demands a thorough NIA probe to uncover the networks operating within the educational institution."
Demand for Central Agency Intervention
The organizations argue that local law enforcement lacks the specialized capabilities required to handle such sensitive cases involving potential national security threats. They emphasize that only a centralized agency like the NIA possesses the necessary expertise and resources to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
Bajrang Dal activists have highlighted multiple instances where they claim evidence points toward organized efforts to disrupt campus harmony and target vulnerable students.
